The Marfa Film Festival is a collaboration between artists to bring films and filmmakers to an amazing part of the world for a unique celebration of cinema.
We are not a competition. There are countless festivals who turn cinema into a contest, seeking publicity for publicity's sake in an overwhelming and exhausting environment. Instead, the Marfa Film Festival will screen only the movies that move us, the films that must be seen, while at the same time shining a spotlight on lost classics and forgotten masters. Experimental visual artists are also encouraged to submit samples of their work. All generes are welcome.
We hope to keep the integrity and beauty of Marfa and the Chihuahua desert and its people at the forefront of our efforts, and we hope that all who join us for this celebration of cinema will do the same.

Please note that films do not have to be completed this year, we will consider all film regardless of previous screenings. Our goal is to shine light on the new, but also on great older films that have never been shown in this region.
The MFF Society will host outdoor screenings of classic films and overlooked jewels throughout the year!

Invitation to participate in the Sixth Short Film Contest "Corto Creativo UDC'09"
CALL FOR ENTRIES Students of high school, university or its equivalent in any area of knowledge: you are invited to participate in the Sixth Short Film Contest "Corto Creativo UDC'09" which shall be screened at local cinemas (part of an international movie theater chain) in Tijuana, Baja CALIFORNIA, MEXICO 28, 29 and May 30 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 PM
Filmmakers and video professionals who want to showcase their short films, can send their submissions, but will not participate in the contest.
The pre-selection of material will take into consideration only the shorts that, in addition to exhibiting a clear narrative situation, have been produced after December 31st . 2006.
