The Third Margate Jazz Festival - Big Sky- took place on the Kent coast between 6 and 15 July. The BBC Big Band performed with special guests Christine Tobin and Mike Gibbs, and there was a free weekend on the Piazza by the Harbour on 14 and 15 July. Performers included Annie Whitehead, Anita Wardell, Billy Jenkins, Phil Robson, Deirdre Cartwright, Harbour Jazz Orchestra with Paul Booth.
The Festival is run by David Mossman, the founder of the Vortex Jazz Club in London, and support is from The Babel Label, Margate Town Partnership and Vortex Jazz Club.
Next festival will be in July 2008. But who knows what might happen between now and then?
