Inspired by her musical family Maria-Catharina Weber started at an early age to play the violin & classical piano and was soon part of different ensembles & orchestras. Not before long she discovered her love for Jazz, switched to Jazz piano and could combine it with her all-time favourite instrument, the voice. After singing in different bands and musical productions in the south of Germany her studies brought her to Amsterdam/Netherlands where she studied Jazz Singing at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Here she also encountered Latin music and got fascinated by it.
From 2001-2005 she was a member of the BuJazzO (Federal German Youth Jazz Orchestra), led by Peter Herbolzheimer and toured a. o. in Poland, South Africa, Namibia. Next to projects & lose set-ups in Germany and the Netherlands she mainly dedicates herself at the moment to "Duology", a guitar-vocal Duo playing jazz & latin jazz, the "Maria-Catharina Trio" playing jazz & own tunes and "Puraxué", a quartet playing and creating music with Latin-American roots. And hopefully there’ll be a little surprise coming up soon...
