About me: The Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza in San Antonio, TX attracts thousands to the Alamo City for what has become recognized as the largest and longest running Latin music event of its kind in Texas.
The seven-day mariachi music fest kicks off with a series of mariachi events including a mariachi Mass, a mariachi inspired art exhibit, Noche de Cultura with members of Mariachi Vargas, mariachi group and vocal competitions, mariachi workshops and a mariachi jam. The Extravaganza culminates in a grand concert featuring Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, known throughout the national and international music scene as "the best mariachi in the world." More than 10,000 music lovers participate in the event including 1,000 elementary, middle school, high school and college/university mariachi students from throughout the United States.
