About me: Marick Press seeks out and publishes the best new poetry from an eclectic range of aesthetics — poetry that is technically accomplished, distinctive in style, and thematically fresh. In 2008 Marick Press will establish the Marick Poetry Prize, an award for a book-length collection of poetry judged by a poet of national repute.

Who I'd like to meet: Who Marick Press Wants to Meet.
Marick Press publishes emerging and mid-career authors. Nearly all Marick authors have had works published in literary magazines or other publications: a resume including a list of prior publications can strengthen your submission. Although this is important, part of our mission is to present first and second books of poetry.
What Marick Press Publishes
Marick Press publishes literary novels, full-length short story collections and poetry. Marick does not accept submissions for our anthologies. Marick Press also does not publish genre fiction such as mysteries, Gothic Romances, Westerns, Science Fiction, or books for children.
Since Marick Press produces relatively few titles each year, our books reflect the individual tastes of its small staff. Marick Press looks for writing that instructs, inspires, and/or entertains the reader, and that does so with a unique voice. Marick Press currently publishes four trade titles annually, one of which is fiction.
Marick Press highly recommends that you familiarize yourself with our guidelines to see if your work and our list are compatible. Most independent bookstores and many libraries carry our titles.

Extraordinary stuff … stories that have seeped over into fall from the golden parts of summer … submitted for our story contest and haunting us still … poetry that is wind and water and moon madness and seared hearts and summits … memoirs of strippers and warriors for the rights of plants (they have feelings, too?) and a musing on our entering the final stretch or a time of awakening … the very elegant art of courting a cigar, and the art on your cigar … an interview with novelist, Tish Cohen, about her second novel, Inside Out Girl, even while her first is being made into a movie … news on our annual poetry contest nearing deadline (is yours in our inbox yet?) with honorary judge, Dorianne Laux … and a library of links and resources that will take you on a literary treasure hunt.
