Marido's Biography
I was born on August 29th, 1982 and raised in the heart of Montreal. The Mt-Royal mountain has an important place in my short lived life as it is a
place of comfort and peace. While I was a child, music was a key for deliverance: from classical to rock and heavy metal riffs…I found freedom. Discovering the piano at the age of 6, I soon was immersed with my sensitivity and emotions. At 14, as a teenager in chase for her soul, I discovered musical composition. I can tell you one thing for sure; solitude became very powerful during those times. It helped me heal, create and listen to the inner voices of silence… I went into my extremes, my limits, and the full taste of life, the true value of being alive and proud of being part of it.
The following 8 years were therapeutic. I believe in universal love. I found some serenity, peace for my soul… with the piano, my muse. My repertory is made up of modern, classical-contemporary melodies. Singing is also key to the melody as music is only complete with resounding and meaningful words. Music is a therapy and a universal language capable of reaching out. This is my way of communicating. Musicians have no other objective than to reach souls and touch pulses of the heart. Music heals both psychology and physically. I need these blacks and whites to be close to my feelings, to feel alive, to dig into the well of my conscience.
I started singing in 2003 at the Shed café on St-Laurent Boulevard and then performed for several years, at the Loews Hotel, downtown Montreal and currently for special events at the St-James Hotel and the Mount Stephen Club. The area of “Old Montreal” brings an ambiance that enhances my creativity. In the fall of 2005, I played a role in the film DUO produced by Richard Ciupka. I played the role of “MARIDO”, a young singer. The movie gave me the opportunity to front the screen.
Today, I am proud to present to you my “child” born during the winter 2007. It is titled “Mother-Earth”, and is an initiation to the musical spirits living inside me. I was privileged to record the album in part at Victor Studio. There I met terrific technicians: Gaetan Pilon, the owner, Ralph and especially François. They believed in my music from the moment I ran a few chords. The second part was produced at Planet Studio, an amazing place to be. Dan Cinelli, a great guy and also the owner. He brought me into another vibe of creation, another degree of heightening of expression. His team made up of Mark and Patrick gave me place to breathe and improvise to the fullest.
I remember a special evening in 1999,while I was playing at a hotel in Geneva, Switzerland, a musician came to me and said: “Sometimes, in life, the critical situations might become the most amazing moments of your time by composing with them musically”. I am close to these words. I am a tree of solid roots and limbs playing and singing to the wind.
Music gives me this possibility to breathe in my spiritual element.
Music is my child.
