FASHION RELEASE My name is Mariana, I’m Brazilian and I discovered fashion at my childhood. I used to see my mother and grandmother knitting scarves and sweaters at the winter and I always wanted to learn some knit stitches. But at this time I never wondered I could work with fashion in future. I was sure about fashion when I was 15 and I started to do some drawing and sewing courses. I got in a high school immersed in an art environment and it’s was decisive to my carrier. At 16 I started selling customized t-shirts at Mercado do Mundo Mix, which was a good experience to me. Some years later I did a fashion course at Senai (which is more focused in fashion industry) and at 18 I won a competition in São Paulo called “L’oreal Criando Moda”. Because of this competition I got the chance to develop a fall/winter fashion show and I worked for a few months at Daslu, the greatest boutique in Brazil. In 2009 I presented other fall/winter collection at Fashion Rio, in an event called “Rio Moda Hype”, which is directed to newcomers. The main point of my collection was knitwear, freeform crochet and jersey. I tried to make creative and comfortable clothes for a modern girl. In the same I've participated at International Freeform Guild's show "4 seasons" as latin representative. The book was released in June and the real life exhibition was held in Colorado (US) at The San Luis Valley Folk Arts and Fiber Festival. Sometimes fashion can be categorized as something too superficial, but I believe fashion can show what you have inside, for me is very important to develop fashion to strong and determined people. A fashion creation can come from everywhere, even a bad feeling or a chaotic situation. I believe is very important to a fashion designer to be authentic.
