   About Marie-Claire
Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, alternative-folk-pop, and neo-medieval experimentalist Marie-Claire Calvet, has spent the last three years evolving her own original voice and writing songs with a rich, evocative power that is complimented by an expressively powerful, haunting voice. She plays a combination of keyboard and acoustic guitar based material, and has a degree of gigging experience behind her in a variety of different venues including the legendary 12 Bar Club of Tin Pan Alley, The Troubadour the Half Moon Putney and variety of music festivals. In addition to holding a three-year residency as in-house pianist before and during her A-levels at the prestigious Leeds castle in Kent, Marie-Claire has gained regular work performing covers of Piaf, Brel, Aznavour and Barbara with an accordion player at respected venues as Le Pigalle Club and Le Meridien in Piccadilly circus. She performs a set of original material and covers in her own unique style, and though she cites influences such as Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy, to name a few, she remains true to her own original style of songwriting and performance. She has received recognition both from established and respected musicians and artists, as well as interest from industry professionals, reaching the semi-finals of the UK Songwriting contest recently in Sept 2009 with the track "Glorious Maiden" . "The spirit of Bert Jansch and Davy Graham lives on", Emma Wilson Music promoter of Live Music nights London; "Just had another listen to the edited version and you sound absolutely amazing. You are an unbelievable talent and deserve so much success." - Paul Dunn, songwriter "Hats off to you kindred twister..i mean sistuh! you are too much! my theatrical experiment in humour and terror...loaded in high sensitivity too! you are like a combination of edith piaf and cyndi lauper..essence of Kate Bush and Mary Poppins! Utterly an original daring, pour-your-soul-out kinda girl...you are loaded Marie-Claire..never change..", Laura Taylor Whitfield, singer-songwriter "An emotional sensitivity and expression that has the capacity to engage and reach the heart of any audience", music fan "Marie Claire is unbelievable,I don't say that lightly . Well done Marie-Claire, your a very talented woman indeed." - Eamon O' Maonaigh, singer-songwriter, winner of UKSC "That thing you do... nobody can touch it in terms of sheer originality" - Mark Hudson , grammy-award winning record producer "The purest voice I have heard in 25 years of folk " - Lazarus Carpenter, singer-songwriter, organiser of (music) Owain Glyndwr festival, Wales HELP PEOPLE WITH ALZHEIMERS This 26 track double album entitled "FORGET ME NOT" has been launched to raise funds for those afflicted with the debilitating Alzheimers Disease. Photobucket

wandering lost, tired, need sleep
while soft dew grass my head to keep
crystal dreams whisper thoughts
of fairy magic, fairy brought,
breathing deep, breathing slow,
visions come in streaming flow
I thought this be a faery dell
succumbing fast to faery spell
one moment capturing space and time
feeling eternal, universal rewind,
harnessed and seized,
if you will, if it please .. ..

Hi Marie-Claire,

Hope you had a wonderful holiday. It's now some while since I listened to your song "Glorious Maiden." It's even more beautiful than I remember, gorgeous melody, brilliant arrangements and of course, your exquisite soprano vocals. You are indeed an immense talent and deserve much higher critical acclaim.
