I moved to Montreal as a teenager, sang and acted in a few corny high school plays, took piano lessons, taught myself how to play an upside down guitar. One summer I had nothing to do so I wrote a whole bunch of songs on piano, then forgot most of them. The thrill of songwriting is something that has stuck with me. Later I discovered the absolutely fantastic activity of singing harmonies with voices other than my own playing back on a cheap tape recorder.
I currently play in an old-timey folk band called Little Brown Jug. In one afternoon in May 2008, we recorded a demo at Urban Handed Works with the trusty Gern f. working the knobs and dials. We've played Ormstown Festival and the Apple Hollow Music Festival in Franklin, Cagibi, The Wheel Club, Barfly, Grumpy's Bar and other places I forget now.
I'm looking to play some more shows around town so if you're interested in sharing a bill, send me a message.
I love singing everything and anything - jazz, old-time ballads, country, folky stuff, bluegrass, traditional Irish singing, and other kinds of singing I haven't discovered yet.
And I can yodel. I learned it on the Internet.
