Marimba Ayin is a Guatemalan marimba ensemble based at the University of Florida. Sponsored by the Center for World Arts, Center for Latin American Studies, School of Music, and UF Student Government, Marimba Ayin is a product of the Center for World Arts' 2006 Latin American Artists-in-Residence project. In the spring semester of 2006, Manuel Mateo Suar, his wife Elvia Velasquez Perez, and their son Pedro Tomas Maeto Velasquez spent over two months in Gainesville, imparting their skills to many musicans involved with the World Music Ensemble program.
Marimba Ayin is the only Guatemalan marimba located in an American university (as far as we know). If you're out there, we'd love to meet you!!

With the Florida Gators winning two NCAA National Men's Basketball Championships back to back, a Football Championship in 2006, Tim Tebow winning the Heisman in 2007, and another Football Championship in 2008, word spread like wildfire and “Florida Boy” became an instant success. Now “Florida Boy” is being played on radio stations all across Florida and around the world, in nightclubs and bars, at house parties, on mixtapes, and wherever there are Gator Fans. The GatorNation is Everywhere!
"Florida Boy" ringtones are now available!
It's simple, just text FLORIDABOY plus whatever number (1-5), depending on which part you want to 69937
Glad to see more traditional marimba groups here in the U.S.. I have a group/duet in NM and have been playing since 1982. You must see my collection of marimbas from around the world including the Turquoise marimba which is from Chiapas but I had some Navajo Indians make me a sandpainting using real turquoise stone sand. You must also see my slideshow and listen to the "fastest hands this side of the Rio Grande." GREAT JOB. LOVE THE BUZZZZZZZZZZ!
