Influences
Everything, anything, all things, anyone, everyone. All that we have ever seen, heard, done, listened to, liked, disliked, loved, hated, adored, missed, lost, found, felt and left behind!
Sounds Like
The Marina Florance band do their best to sound original, although comparisons are always being made.
The band was formed in 2006 with co-writer and guitarist Mick Kennedy. Ray Taylor joined in 2008 adding percussion, harmonica and cajon to the mix. More recently, Chris Bullen (bass) and Suzie Frize Williams (Harmonies, flute and saxophone) have joined to give the band more depth of sound. Come out to a gig and see it all for yourself.
"It's the kind of music you play to lift you up, to create a mood, to play when friends come round to chill out on a Sunday afternoon drinking wine and eating great food" - PlanbManagement
"Her voice is like chocolate" - Sue Marchant of BBC Eastern Counties.
"I think you will agree we just heard a little piece of heaven" - Cambridge Folk Club MC on 29/05/09
The Marina FLorance band have played at many many venues, including various folk clubs, Arts Centres and festivals. A recent highlight was a performance at the 2008 Cambridge Folk Festival.
They have also supported many great artists including, Karine Polwart, Cara Dillon, Luka Bloom, Steve Tilston, Megson, Ken Nicol, Vin Garbutt, David Sneddon, Loman, Gus McGregor and many many more.
They always get a great reception from the audience whether headlining or supporting. Get out to a gig and see for yourself.
  "Somewhere Down The Line"
The album, entitled "Somewhere Down The Line", is an astoundingly good collaboration of original songs and music written by Marina Florance, Julie Fox-Allen and Mick Kennedy.
The art work for the album was created by Julie Fox Allen, who recently graduated from the Norwich School of Art with a Masters Degree.
You can purchase our music from all mainstream online retailers, including, AMAZON, PLAY.COM and iTUNES, or just buy one at a gig.

Thanks again to you and the band for a fabulous set last night, Marina! I've had a lot of very positive feedback about you - you've made some friends round these parts. We'll definitely do it again next year. All the best for now. Kev
Ever consider that the most beautiful places in the world are the uncrowded gems that only the few know about. Enjoy the scene before it gets commercialised!
Well, the chocolate weekend is here and we are stuck in America where the only thing that stinks is the chocolate!!!!!!! Hershey bars taste like smelly socks. We have one small bar of Green and Blacks that we bought at Heathrow, it will be a fight amongst seven on Easter Sunday. HOWEVER, easter is not just about chocolate you know.
Thanks Marina .I think we all did well, and such a nice little event. Had a great time and plenty of bargains. What more could you wish for. See you soon
Hey! I been listening to your Cd lately. Learnt the song by Mick Kennedy to play to my best friends who are engaged to be married. That song just fitted them so well. They loved it. Hope youre well xxx
