For me, Pete Townshend's performance at Amnesty International's Secret Policeman's Ball is the model to aspire to - magical songwriting mixed with no-holds barred solo acoustic playing. I also find inspiration in the quirky guitar imaginings of Adrian Belew (particularly his rare acoustic work), the bossa nova tradition in general, and the sheer poetry - musically and lyrically - of the masterful Silvio Rodriguez. Rich, percussive chordwork, strong melody lines and lyrical imagery - that's my gig.
Mario performs his particular style of solo acoustic rock throughout Southern California, be it at art festivals, wine shops, restaurants, or farmers markets. He also plays out-of-state, as at Marathon de Mayo in Nevada, and out-of-country, as at the Zihuatenejo International Guitar Festival in Mexico.
His recording "Sorcery & Beer" gives an impression of what he does via first and second "live" studio takes. His second recording, "Calafia's Moods," is more of art album, with tracks ranging from solo guitar and voice to full band complete with dolphin chatter! He is currently recording a third CD in Los Angeles.
Wow. A Demain. Just beautiful. What a composition. You're always an inspiration. And the Duck song. Wonderfully recorded and very delightful. Hope to see you and Sarah soon, my friend.

Hi Mario, Thank you so much for your message. I enjoyed listening to your music. You have a great sense of tone and some interesting rhythms. I hope to see you play live some day. Tell me if you come out to San Francisco. Annie (Hobbyhorse)
I just wanted to thank you again for going so far out of your way to come up to Lancaster, and then Claremont to see my show.
It was a great pleasure seeing you again & it made such a difference to see a friend's face in the audience - especially while on the road. My only regret is that I didn't get to hear you play this time!
Let us know how you get on with planning your Irish visit, and I'll make sure you've some showcases lined up, I know they'd love your stuff here.
You played elegantly tonight at Coffee Junction - I really grasp more and more of your 'aim' each time Mike and I see you perform. Your illustrative words and expansive, rhythmic compositions are truly ear grabbing. Discmakers Ahoy!
