Marion Felder was born 8/24/84 in Orangeburg, SC and raised in Detroit, MI. Felder began playing drums at the age of 3. His earliest influences range from gospel to Motown. Marion graduated from the world famous Cass Technical High School. This school has produced many Jazz greats of today and yesterday: Paul Chambers, Duke Pearson, Reggie Workman, Donald Byrd, Ali Jackson, Geri Allen, Regina Carter, Carla Cooke, and Ron Carter to name a few. During High School Felder began to perform with legendary trumpet player Marcus Belgrave. Marion was accepted to The Juilliard School for Jazz Studies in the fall of 2002 and he currently studies there now. Felder has performed, recorded, and/or toured with: Marcus Belgrave, David Ostwald, John Alred, Wycliffe Gordon, Victor Goines, Wynton Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Christian McBride, Grady Tate, Sara Gazarek, Hank Jones, Bobby Watson, Paul Simon, Nile Rodgers, Carla Cooke, Vanessa Rubin, Frank Wess, Regina Carter, Martha Reeves, Tom Harrell, Donald Brown, Hank Jones, Marcus Printup, Randy Sandke, Vincent Gardner, Ben Wolfe, Carl Allen, Eddie Henderson,Lalah Hathaway, The Clarke Sisters,Ernistine Anderson, Jim Rotondi, Jim Snidero, and Allen Harris. Currently Felder performs regularly with Shayna Steele.
