...oh, and my album Cheaper Than Therapy!
I'm also inspired and motivated by the amazing musicians I am lucky to call my friends from my hometown of Newcastle, Australia. So talented!
Sounds Like
Alicia Keys - but shorter and a little less urban.
She may only stand a little over five feet high, but it’s one hell of a voice that comes out of 25-year-old Marissa Saroca. Winner of Best Female Vocals at both the 2005 and 2006 ABC Newcastle Music Awards, Marissa has had extensive experience in the entertainment industry.
While studying at The Hunter School of the Performing Arts, Marissa was a soloist in the Hunter production Star Struck for seven years and a member of the regional choir the Hunter Singers for five. In 2001 she graduated from the Talent Development Project – a journey which was later broadcast on the ABC documentary Rising Stars. She has been entertaining crowds for the past eight years as the lead rockstar in cover bands in her hometown of Newcastle, Australia, and as an independent singer/songwriter, Marissa released her debut album ‘Cheaper Than Therapy’ in May 2008.
Marissa made her first foray into theatre in 2006 as an ensemble member in JJK Productions’ sold-out Newcastle season of RENT – returning early in March 2007 to play the role of ‘Maureen’. She was cast as Hawaiian goddess ‘Hina’ in the original rock opera SHINING ISLE and performed with rave reviews in Newcastle’s jazz cabaret ULTRA SWING LOUNGE – BY INVITATION, in March 2007. In October 2007 she starred as ‘Gabriella’ in the stage show of Disney’s HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre (director Jonathan Geraghty – Hi5, Home and Away).
Marissa is also a professional session vocalist, having worked since 2005 for the Austereo Network (2DAY FM, NXFM, BRIS 105, SA FM, PERTH 92.9) as well as rising singer/songwriters such as country music star Morgan Evans (Song/BMG, winner 2006 Musicoz Awards for Best Rock and Artist of the Year; winner 2006 Telstra Road to Tamworth), world musician Gian (ABC Music) and rock outfits The Humm (Guru Records).

I promise you DONT want to miss his set of classic Aussie hits!
The fun begins at 8.30pm. Will see you there or maybe your a square or maybe it's just too cold and you don't want to leave the house and when Summer comes back you'll make up for lost gig time. I understand this train of thought but whatever you do on Wednesday the 8th of April, have a good one!
I just wanted to say how fantastic you are looking. Although I didn't stay at the Delany long the other night, it was great hearing your beautiful voice again. Hope to see you again soon.
