Marjorie Ribeiro, Brazilian, 32, Sagitarium, a.k.a. Marjo Lak, started DJing in 2004 while studying Acupuncture in Brazil. At that time she was invited to be the resident Dj at "Cultura Lounge" in Brasilia, Brazil – a modern mix of restaurant + club focused mainly on lounge and downbeat. That was the first break Marjo Lak had to externalize all the research she had been doing about her real passion, Brazilian Music, mixing good old tracks with modern beats and grooves. At that occasion her main influences were Brazilian Music, Soul, Funk, Dub and Black Music. But it was through the experience on dancefloors that she connected with progressive-house music and in 2005 BUTTER MUSIC was created. What started out as a gag among friends – all great admirers of good underground progressive house music – quickly became a respected reference to the electro-minimal-tech-house music scene in Brazil. Marjo Lak is not limited to electro-minimal beats: she keeps working on her lounge and ambient dj sets, good for performing at chill outs and "warm-up" parties.
