I grew up with the Russian choir music, because i was born in Soviet Estonia, where you couldn't hear any other music, than that, for pretty long time, before things started to get better, and we could start to listen to some western radio stations... like Radio Luxenburg :-)---------------------------------------------
But thanks God, i was born with some natural feeling for Jazz and Funk! :-), ...
Ella Fitzgerald was my 1st "teacher" with her Live Album "Ella in Berlin". I was mentioned twice in Down Beat, as a best jazz singer in Soviet and St-Petersburg has a special Jazz-Museum, where my name (Marju Kuut) is inn, as a best Jazz Singer in Soviet :-) ---------------------------------------------------
Then, after a while, jazz got prohibited in Soviet and i had to "step just further with the life", started to sing some old R&B and every kind of songs, what these authors wrote for me here, in Estonia, etc.. ... It's all written in An American Top Music Magazine "Wax Poetics" Nr. 28:
