Mark7 first commenced the jungle/drum'n'bass journey back in 1996 as a bedroom dj. He entered and won a nation wide dj competition on Triple J's mixup program the following year as part of the Australian Loud Festival, the award; to play on nation-wide radio show - Triple J's MIX UP (also streamed live across the globe via the j's website). He was soon asked back for an encore performance on Triple J in 99 and has since been a guest presenter on Rollerz and Turbulence, locally on Fresh Fm. In 2000 Mark7 set up an independent local record label - 5158 Records - which has released 10 cds, with over 30 artists producing over 130 tracks in this time. It was in that year that Mark7 was also nominated in the Lemon Ruski National Dance Music Awards as "Australia's best new dj". Since then he has dj'd at regular club nights and big rave parties along side the greats in drum'n'bass such as AndyC, Teebee, Bad Company, Pendulum along with the majority of dnb acts touring Australia. Mark has also played several interstate Gig's in Perth including Madhatters - Drum Club, played up in Brisbane with the Basscreepz Crew and also the Adelaide Vs Melbourne rollers gig some years back. It was in 2005 when Mark7 was awarded with APRA's prestigious "Encouragement Award" and was also awared with 5158's "Most popular local label" at the South Australian Dance Music Awards. Over the 10 years has carried nominations in the most popular dnb dj, most popular local label, most popular local producer and such categories but his real accomplishment will be his forthcoming album "Inspire" is a collection of some of his big productions over recent years. Other signings include Bigdog Records and his collaboration with E-theory, Djon & Skyver remixed & globablly released on the latest Technique Recordings E.P. Radio One in the Uk have rinsed out "Gimme Sumthin" on several programs and it is one of the featured tunes on "Street Technique CD" along with tracks from Simon Bassline Smith, Drumsound, Roni Size, J-Magic & Fresh to name but a few. Wooohaaaaa!!! Braindrop is throwing its very first boat party on Saturday 6 June.
The vessel is specially equipped to hold large groups of people (and all the extra bass bins we can squeeze on). Her name is The Dutch Master and she be a mighty fine boat too!
It's going to be a ridiculously fun rinse up. However, if you think you can get away with being remotely serious and/or cool at this party - ye be mistaken. The Braindrop Boat Rave is fancy dress: Pirate's from the 80's. Arrgh...better get thinkin what ye gonna wear.
