Mark's musical inspiration was fostered by his family. Mark's grandfather was Sicily's(in Southern Italy) most loved Piano Accordion player during the 1940's. From the early age of 9 years old, Mark began to play his grandfather's piano accordion which now takes pride of place in his home studio. Mark's father also played a pivotal role in his musical upbringing taking him to countless piano lessons throughout his teenage years. Alongside his talent and passion for music, Mark also developed a love for football. He was soon faced with the decision as to which career path to pursue. Ironically, Mark chose neither. Instead, he enrolled in Electronic Engineering for his tertiary studies.
When Mark is not sitting at his piano, you will find him on the sideline cheering on his beloved Essendon Bombers. Not surprisingly, Mark regards the biggest highlight of his time on GMA as "meeting Kevin Sheedy in person".
In Mark's rare spare time his love for food and cooking takes over. He often cooks up a storm whilst listening to his favorite CD in his kitchen at home.
You can catch Mark playing in live music venues around Melbourne alongside local bands, doing what he does best... entertaining!
When asked what means the most to him Mark will simply reply, "love, happiness and making the most of every opportunity ". Mark attributes his success so far to his involvement in music at such an early age and encourages children and adults alike to follow their dreams and not be afraid of making a career of music if it's something that they love.
Mark Amato held the prestigious role as Musical Director on
"Good Morning Australia" (1992-2005) for the last two years of the shows duration.
