Dear Teachers :
On Saturday, November 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. we will be celebrating the 70th Anniversay of the opening of Lamar High School. We hope you will be able to join us on that day and see some of your former students there. We are expecting 1000 alumni to attend the event here on the Lamar campus. The event will begin on the front lawn with registration at 10 a.m. and a pep rally at 10:30 a.m. After that the alumni will be invited into the school and sent to classrooms on the first floor for their individual class reunions. There will also be tours of the entire school, for those who have not seen the additions and improvements, lunch on the front lawn with Prince's Hamburgers, and a program in the auditorium featuring current and former students and the famous Choralettes.
We are asking that each teacher make certain that his/her classroom is neat and presentable for the tours. We will notify the teachers on the first floor as to which classrooms we will need for the class reunions. We are also asking that any teacher or organization that has a display case in any area of the school to make certain that the display cases are attractive and up to date.
This event is an opportunity for the whole school to showcase our students and to make a good impression on the alumni. We hope that they have a great day visiting and remembering and leave with a good feeling about their school. We need these alumni. They can be of benefit to the school in several ways. They can spread the word about what good things are going on at the school, they can contribute their expertise by helping our students in several ways, and they can also contribute their donations. As you may know, we are in the middle of a $3 million Capital Campaign to make several improvement
