The synthetic image-maker Mark Biddulph seeks to blur the boundaries between traditional artistic media and ideas. He aims to produce images of harmonious hybridity.
About me: Dearest Viewer,
Hello my name is Mark. Here are some images. I hope you enjoy them. They are for you. You are an integral part of their existence. You complete them. You are a part of them and they will now forever be a part of you (you have seen them you cannot un-see them).
That being the case whatever words I have to say will most probably have little or no lasting impression on your relationship with the images (especially if you are not actually reading this). However, here are some words anyway:
My intention is to explore the mid-ground between the ideas of abstraction and representation. To take a representational image (a re-presentation of the so-called real world, most likely a photograph) and to abstract it (to take it outside of its original context) firstly by converting it to black and white and then by layering collections of these images together. The result would then be a synthesis of ideas, styles and mediums. A Synthetic Image.
