Mark is an artist who has explored many musical paths. He has taken what he’s discovered and used the ingredients in his own musical recipe. As a performer his work reflects his balance as an artist, musician, songwriter, and entertainer.
A native of western North Carolina, Mark’s influences span the American landscape, from the traditional sounds of his Appalachian mountains to the west coast country and folk rock sounds of the 60’s & 70’s. Before finishing high school Mark joined his first working band. The groups melding of country, bluegrass and southern influenced music would set the tone and direction for the musical journey that has led him to where he is today.
For the last twenty five years Mark has performed with several national and regional touring bands, and as a solo artist, playing a variety of venues and opening for some of music's most respected artists.
Mark’s experience performing makes him just as comfortable on a large festival stage as in a small, intimate club or coffee house. In addition to his own songwriting, Mark interprets a wide range material. Having spent many years in Nashville, several of his songs are from some of the country’s best known and unknown songwriters. From americana to bluegrass to classic country, Mark’s style takes a fresh approach with an old school sensibility and marries it with a little mountain soul.

Mark, it's an honor to be friends with such a talented man as you. I could see when we played with Mac in the Cot Smith days that you had something that all knew about but few understood it, something from down a little deeper in the heart, & I know that your using it in your writing & performing. I admire you the most for that & your honesty. GOD bless you Buddy.
