Hello and thanks for visiting my site! Here I would like to share a little information about myself - I've been a musician most of my life - I started playing guitar at the age of 15 and began a career as both a musician and a guitar teacher in 1985. I feel very fortunate that I've been able to make a living at doing something I love -playing and making music!
I've always been interested in writing - and throughout the years I've put together 4 CDs containing all original material. A few of these songs have ended up on a couple of the TNT network's "Saving Grace" shows starring Holly Hunter as well as "Without A Trace" TV show and a spot on the 2007 "Buried Alive" movie starring Tobin Bell (who you might remember from the horror movie "Saw").
I've had the pleasure to work some great talent! Some of the finest musicians out of Atlanta have contribute their talents on one of my CD's enititled "Blue Voodoo." Musicians such as Larry Griffith, Sam Skelton, Andrew Black, Lola Gulley, Sean O'Rourke, Bobby Mobley, Heaven Davis, Joey Huffman, etc., have all contributed their talents to this CD.
Some of my accolades over the years include: 4 time winner of the JPFolks Music Awards - held each year in Los Angeles CA. Three of my CDs, "An Evening with the Blues," "Promise Highway," and "Blue Voodoo," have all won "Best Blues Album of the Year" award for 2001, 2002, and 2006. The most recent award shows was held at the GALAXY THEATER in Santa Ana, CA. on November 4th, 2006. I was a recent winner in 2 of the categories - "Best Blues Album of the Year" & "Best Rock Instrumental of the Year" with the title track - "Blue Voodoo."
Winning these awards was an extreme honor as this years music awards contained 350,000 entries spanning from over 100 counries and territories! This is primarily an independant award show that recognizes musicians in every genre. Some of the talent this year included: Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Forrest McDonald, Jeff Scheetz, Art Garfunkal, Janis Ian, etc. -
My CDs have been reviewed in magazine publications such as: GUITAR PLAYER, VINTAGE GUITAR, RECORDING MAGAZINE, BLUES REVUE, etc., as well as several on-line music sites.
I've been performing around the Atlanta area as well as the midwest with my 2 bands - "Cook-N-Blues" and "Blind Spot" - we had the pleasure of oppening up for acts like "Little Feat" and "Derek St. Holmes Band" to which I had the opportunity to perform alongside! (Derek was the lead vocalist for Ted Nugent in the 70's and sang a lot of Ted's Songs such as "Stranglehold" and "Hey Baby.")
Well that's about enough information about myself for now - hopefully wasn't too painful to read? In the meantime, please check out my music which can be found on-line on the above links - or listen for them on XM Satellite radio. Thank you for visiting!! Mark (please e-mail me at: wmcook1@bellsouth.net)

The band is Skillet originating out of Nashville, TN. Inception 1996. Genre: Alternative/Rock. Members: John Cooper(lead vocalist & bassist), Korey Cooper(rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist), Ben Kasica(lead guitarist)&Jen Ledger(drummer & vocalist). They’ve received numerous Emmy nominations. Skillet toured w/Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Seether & Flyleaf in 2007.They will be hitting the road in 1/2010 w/Shinedown & Puddle of Mudd throughout the East Coast. Latest album “Awake” released 8/25/09. You can hear traces of AC/DC, Metallica, or Breaking Benjamin with lots of guitars & streamlined drum beats. I would love to see them in concert. I’ve read they are totally awesome. John really gets the fans motivated. I don’t think I would have found Skillet if a heavy metal guitarist didn’t introduce me to my fav single “Rebirthing”, which is the vid below. This is another song that gives me chills every time I hear it. Looking forward to listening to “Awake”. Hope you like their sound & phenomenal vocals.
