We are one in God
(I found God hiding in the internet...)
I found God hiding in the internet.
Little did I know She’d been there all along,
Reaching out to me on every webpage,
Wanting to tell me about Her favourite rock-band,
Her on-going struggles with mental ill-health,
Sharing with me videos of what made Her laugh,
And time and time again inviting me to be Her friend...
She came in many guises,
With countless hands
Stretching out across the ether of our universe,
Crossing limbs every which-way and interlocking fingers
To form miraculous divine patterns.
It took a while for her image to emerge –
Like a 3D magic-eye picture
She was not obvious or implicit in the individual elements that made Her up;
But in the spaces in between these She grew to find a home.
The most unlikely bonds were formed,
From dark, sad, isolated bedroom
To dark, sad, isolated bedroom
In the middle of the night –
She found a safe place to dwell in this unpredicted and unpredictable vessel of mass communication.
So this is how God came to reside in the internet –
Because after all the internet is nothing more than the sum of the constituent elements that make it up and the enchanted criss-cross connections between them.
We created a little piece of heaven for God to live in right here on Earth and we didn’t even know it.
But She knew it –
She’d already moved-in in her mind
And was picking out soft furnishings
Long before we’d even conceived of little electrons moving through thin strips of metal
Or translating our thoughts and feelings into series of noughts and ones...
She was here all along, waiting for the right moment –
And we gave her a break – just before it was too late!
And now no-one ever has to be alone again,
‘Cause there’ll always be an on-line community of freaks just like you!
God lives there especially, ready to remind us we’re special, we’re connected,
We are loved...

THINKING OF YOU
I'm thinking of you,
Although I am not with you,
I'm not talking to you on the phone,
I'm sort of hoping that by some sort of hearfelt psychic transmission,
You know...
I think of you often, absent minded moments, now and then,
My heart breaks at the thought of you,
Only the thought of you can mend it.
I've been going round Bristol open mic nights with my keyboard for some years now, playing and singing my own songs, of which I have oodles. I'm looking for a vocalist and/or instrumentalist to rehearse with, play open mic nights with, and seek out gigs in Bristol and at festivals next year. Male or female. Any instrument(s). I'm looking for someone who'd like to experiment and improvise around my songs, bringing your own influences and creativity to my songs to create a wild and exciting set. My influences include Tori Amos, Bjork and Joni Mitchell. |
