There are so many influences in my musical tastes and therefore there is so many influences that I would like to work with. My parents have very broad tastes and I grew up listening to Meatloaf & The Jam from my Dad and some classic 70's and 80's pop from my Mum.
I'm also encouraged by my own generations artists, all of which I take inspiration and influence. I think it is something that the ecclectic musical upbringing from my parents has given me. Whether it is Eminem, (although, you won't ever hear me rapping!!!), Justin Timberlake, (Dancefloor filler), Athlete; (So great to chill out to!), Madonna (Living legend, ultimate image chameleon Goddess), Evanescense, (Beautiful piano melodies and great rock feel!), Ben Adams (Under-appreciated and a perfect example of UK Talent - CHECK OUT HIS MYSPACE), Kelis, (Dirty, sexy and all 'In public'), Meat Loaf (Amazing theatrical rock inspiration), Kylie Minogue (Pop-diva extradonaire princess of pop!!!), t.A.T.u, (The fantastic mix of rock drums and dance riffs!), Spice Girls (Girl Power and pure CLASSIC pop!), DJ Tiesto, (The God of trance) or Melanie C (My Favourite Solo Artist, whom I would love to work with more then anyone in the world!)
Each of these artists have some amazing skills and each style respectfully gives me inspiration for writing my own new material. There is no doubt in my mind that this list could go on much, much further!
Because of this, I intend with the album Discovered, to try out several styles and genres and leave it down to the public to decide what they like. So many artists out there want to appeal to as many people as possible and I think by not branding myself in a particular way and by using all of my past and present influences I can go to different places and appeal to all different people.
Come Ride MY Rollercoaster!
Hold on tight, it's gonna be a bumpy ride... yadda yadda yadda. You've heard the catchphrase a hundred times before. Well, welcome Mark, who is taking it a little literally! Never one to be kept in one place Mark is breaking all the rules and mixing everything he knows and everything he loves to create music that everyone can enjoy!
Mark is currently busy completing his debut album "Discovered" and crafting a portfolio of music that is fresh, edgy and individual. "Discovered" is set to be a fast paced "Scenic Railway" of different styles, throwing out the rule book on genre! Only one genre.... bah! I want to try a bit of everything really, I have so many influences and passions in music that I want to try them all. I hate the fact that so many artists get pidgeon holed into one particular style of music. I want to appeal to anyone who just loves music!
Whether it is Turn It Up or Discovered (FYI), you can already hear the genre-bending stance that Mark is taking and over the coming months there is a whole load more to come! Of course this has been made possible by working very closely and co-writing with one of the UK's Top Writers/Producers, Ben Adams of a1 fame and the new act "What Jane Did Next". Check out his myspace out NOW!!! (http://www.myspace.com/benadamsuk)
Mark is enjoying every moment so far and can't wait to blast your ear drums with his own take on the world of UK pop. "I honestly could not say how happy I am right now. I want to show the world, that the UK Pop Scene is very much alive. I am proud to be a solo artist, and am now ready to take my music out there and literally get everyone to ‘Turn It Up’.
Not everyone gets this oppurtunity so there is no way I am turning my back on it!!!
