Mark Hannesson is a composer living in Edmonton Canada. He splits his time between electronic and acoustic compositions with a focus on integrating the two. Much of his work explores the manipulation of the spectral characteristics of sound.
He is a founding member of the eMC, the experimental Music Collective. A group based in Vancouver Canada (although the three fulltime members of the collective all live in other parts of the country). The eMC promotes radical, subversive music and extreme sound art.
He is a doctoral candidate in composition at the University of British Columbia. His thesis piece, Folie a deux, is being written for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, percussion and recorded (processed) audio with live electronic processing using Max/MSP. He is presently teaching composition and music technology at the University of Alberta.
