Controlled Demolition is a 6 piece psychedelic world-beat jazz band based in Toronto, Canada led by drummer and vibraphonist Mark Hundevad,a 20 year veteran of the Toronto music scene.Mark is one of the drummers featured in the soon to be released book "Legendary Canadian Drummers" and has performed with some of the world's leading avant garde jazz musicians including Cecil Taylor,Raphe Malik, Sabir Mateen,Daniel Carter and Billy Bang.The band features Jim Heineman on saxophones,flute and vocals.Originally from New York City,Jim has played with renowned artists such as Mary Lou Williams,Willie Dixon and Lennie Breau and has had 3 of his compositions recorded by the Mel Lewis/Thad Jones Big Band.Mark and Jim have been playing together for over 20 years and founded the jazz scene at Toronto's Rex Hotel in 1988 with organist John T. Davis.Also featured in the band are Glenn Fraser on guitar,Sam Heineman on piano and drums,Lucya Almeida on congas and percussion and Juno Award winner Brandi Disterheft on bass.Recently featured in the the band have been Cuban trumpeter Alex Borges and award winning pianist Robi Botos.
