Well-known London based Singer, Songwriter and Guitarist
Mark J. Stevens has released his highly anticipated full length solo debut album 'Honestly'.
'Honestly', perfectly named for Stevens raw, straight forward and intimate approach to songwriting, is currently available for purchase on over 30 consumer websites, including iTunes, CD Baby, Rhapsody, Napster, MP3.com and Verizon.com, where snippets from tracks from the collection are offered as ringtones.
While Mark has a built an audience in the U.K. for his solo work thanks to his high profile associations with the acoustic pop band 'Sounds Solo' and the Euro beats/acoustic driven band 'Frontpage', he partnered his MJS Music with Lengendary Entertainment to create an expansive buzz for his latest project Stateside.
“I’m truly excited about getting the word out on Mark and letting fans of his kind of singing and songwriting in on the ground floor of what is quickly developing as an amazing solo career,” says Carlisle. “This album has a unique mix of upbeat songs and others that are more dark and moody, but they all give the listener an honest feel of what he is about as a person and artist. Sometimes music artists give something of themselves that people can relate to, and then lose that truth when their careers take off. But Mark’s different. His songs are raw, truthful and emotional. He’s an incredible multi-talented artist and I’m excited to be working with him.”
Some of Mark’s musical influences include Prince, Seal, George Michael, Mark Anthony, Sting, Jack Johnson and Damien Rice. “'My love for America mainstream and easy listening made me want to do only one thing in my life and that is to sing and write great songs,” he says. “Music inspires so much and what can be better than reaching people and trying to be a part or even the cause of their inspirations. I love good lyrics and great melodic tunes. So I try to always write good melodies and words that not only I but also people of all ages can relate to. There are some great songwriters out there and the ones that have influenced me are the ones that music lovers and even the odd critic just have to talk about.”
In the late 90s, Mark formed Frontpage along with keyboard player Luca del Bianco; the duo developed their own distinctive sound, mixing English pop with Italian dance grooves, traces of which can be found on Stevens’ EP ‘Until.’ Later, he hooked up with his best friend Rik Gann to form Sounds Solo, which toured Spain and Sweden and appeared on London Charlton’s late night TV show “The Bass.” Mark’s debut solo single “Until” climbed to 23 on the Star Radio European Digital Chart.”
