CRIME THRILLER AUTHOR - MARK KEARNEY |
Crime Thriller Author, Mark Kearney, is a Staunton, Virginia based writer. Kearney's debut novel, Twisted Obsession is a police thriller. In the opening chapter, the main character, Officer Jay Mundie, justifiably kills a suspect in the line of duty. This action causes him to go through emotional turmoil, which he does not weather well. He comes out of his funk abusing alcohol and his family and starts to develop a lust to kill again. He does.
Kearney is the co-founder of Book Em. The Book 'Em Foundation. The mission of The Book 'Em Foundation is to raise awareness of the link between high illiteracy rates and high crime rates, and to work with other non-profits such as the Reading Council and Friends of the Library to increase literacy rates, and with Crime Stoppers to assist police in solving crimes.
Currently Kearney, the father of two, will be touring his upcoming novel and working on the sequel for a 2008 release.

About me:
Due To Be Released January 15th-
Mark Kearney's Twisted Obsession!
Here's what people are saying....
“A very dark and scary ride to a
place most of us will never see. Mark Kearney’s book is reminiscent of
im Thompson’s classic The Killer Inside Me and may, in fact, signal the
beginning of a new chapter in crime fiction: Virginia Noir. Read it.”
~ Peter Blauner,NY Times bestselling
author of “The Intruder and Slipping Into Darkness”
“This suspense novel is a real page
turner that leaves you wanting more. Hopefully Kearney won’t
disappoint and we can look forward to a sequel in the near
future.” ~ Teresa
Gilliam,Assistant Library Director, Waynesboro, VA
“One of the scariest books I have
ever read. Mark Kearney managed something no one has in a long time, he
creeped me out. Not a bad thing, I just thought I was more jaded than
that.”~ Darla Cook, Assistant to NY Times
# 1 best selling author Laurell K. Hamilton
An Excerpt From An Interview With News
Virginian (By MICHAEL L. OWENS)
The story starts with a gun and a police
badge. It quickly turns to a justified killing. From there, it’s a
matter of over-the-edge obsession mixed with just a tinge of evil.
“Twisted Obsession” - scheduled for a December release - is the first
foray into life as a professional author for Waynesboro Police Officer
Mark Kearney.
For years, he’s been known as the man in blue fronting Book ‘Em, a book
fair where literacy is used to end any shot youngsters have at a life
of crime. He will have a few pre-release copies on hand during the next
Book ‘Em event on Oct. 20.
The program, co-founded by Kearney in 2004, has even caught the
attention of other East Coast police departments. After dealing with
dozens and dozens of authors for his program, the local cop decided to
sit at a computer and belt out his own yarn.
“When I finally started meeting these authors, I realized these are
real people … who made the decision to sit down and write,” Kearney
said.
The end result is the 275-page world of Jay Mundie, a run-of-the mill
beat cop with a wife and children in the small Virginia mountain
community of Cutler.
