Gründer und Leiter der "Hamburg Klezmer Band". Er ist Violinenspieler, Komponist und Tanzlehrer für Jüdische Tänze. Er war in vielen Klezmer Festivals in der ganzen Welt beteiligt. Mark Kovnatskiy hat zusammen mit der „Hamburg Klezmer Band“, „Fialke“, „All Stars Klezmer Band“, „Merlin Shepherd Kapelye“, „Aaron Alexander's Midrash Mish Mosh“, „Kharkov Klezmer Band“ usw. in Europa, der ehemaligen Sowjet Union, Israel und Kanada gespielt.
Kovnatskiy ist außerdem Lehrer bei internationalen Festival-Seminaren der jüdischen- und Weltmusik in Deutschland, Russland, Ukraine, Polen, Österreich, Estland, Finnland und Litauen. Seine eigenen Klezmerkompositionen werden von unterschiedlichen Gruppen in der ganzen Welt gespielt.
