Markku Lepistö Company is known as the top Finnish roots line-up since
2002 when Markku..s first solo album "Silta" was released. His fresh
language of composition wraps up together the Ostrobothnian
traditional music and the influences he has collected on his travels
round the world.
The group presents five brilliant instrumentalists who have gelled
together well over the years. Markku Lepistö (accordion), Petri Hakala
(mandolin), Jouko Kyhälä (harmonica and harmonium), Janne Viksten
(guitar, violin, banjo), and Pekka Lehti (double bass) each rank among
the most sought-after musicians in the Finnish world music scene. This
all star band serves solid acoustic grooves with beautiful melodies in
a wonderfully easygoing way.
Markku Lepistö & Companyn musiikissa Lepistön tuore sävellyskieli käärii kokoon aineksia niin pohjalaisesta traditiosta kuin matkoilta kerätyistä vaikutteista. Yhtyeen viisi taitavaa instrumentalistia ovat sulautuneet tiiviisti yhteen vuosien varrella. Markku Lepistö (1- ja 2-riviset haitarit), Petri Hakala (mandoliini), Jouko Kyhälä (harmooni ja huuliharppu), Janne Viksten (kitara, viulu ja banjo) ja Pekka Lehti (basso) tarjoilevat menevää ilottelua ja kauniita melodioita helposti lähestyttävässä muodossa. CD has liner notes by Biographer Charles R. Cross (BackStreets-Springsteen...Heavier than Heaven-Cobain...Roomful of Mirrors-Hendrix...etc. Also I have finally put "Passing Thru" on my site as well for you to hear...this is the one with Eddie Vedder, Victoria Williams, and Carla Torgerson trading verses with me...it has not been availablé for a long time, and I also have it on i-tunes, etunes, amazon and rhapsody.
