I’m 21 years old and have been playing piano since age 6.
Currently in my honours year of the Applied Music
course at the University of Strathclyde, I have studied piano with Yvonne Carey, Anna Bull and currently study with Lithuanian concert pianist, Laurina Sableviciute. During my time at Strathclyde, I have been exposed to a huge variety of musical styles and genres which is reflected in my diverse taste, ranging from classical and folk to musical theatre and jazz.
I am a busy piano teacher and have worked with a number of ensembles for the past few years. I am currently accompanist and section tutor with the Inverclyde Schools’ Training Choir (conducted by Gemma McLean), the Inverclyde Schools’ Junior Choir (finalists in BBC Radio 3’s Choir of the Year competition) and Inverclyde Voices (both conducted by Palma Allan). Performances with these choral ensembles have taken me across the UK to some of the country’s top venues including the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, the Lowry in Manchester, BBC Proms in the Park at Glasgow Green, the Usher Hall & Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh and the Millennium Centre in Cardiff. I have also featured on a number of CD recordings with the Inverclyde Choirs, samples from which can be heard on this page.
As well as being involved with choral groups, I work regularly with a number of theatre companies across West Central Scotland as a musical director, accompanist, and pit musician. I currently work as musical director with Total Kayos Theatre Company and Laughing Stock Theatre Company. In 2007 I travelled to the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts in New York where I spent 12 weeks working as a musical director for 7 productions.
In the first year of my music degree, I formed the Strathclyde Piano Trio who I still play with. More recently, in 2007, after a few years playing in traditional Scottish ceilidh bands, I formed Jigadoon Ceilidh Band with Bethany Reid (fiddle) and Laurence Deveney (percussion).
Future trips abroad include the World Choir Games in Graz, Austria with the Inverclyde Schools’ Junior Choir in July 2008 and hopefully some more work in the United States.
