Muddy Waters, Hank Williams, Bob Marley, John Lennon, Papa Mali, Sonny Boy Williamson, Albert King, B.B. King, David Alan Coe, Derek Trucks, Duane Allman, Woody Guthrie, Layne Staley, G.G. Allin (The Demon), Every punk who ever said "FUCK OFF" to fascist authority.
Mark Maland was born in Moscow, ID and raised all over North America. Along with his stay-at-home mother, auto mechanic stepfather, and two younger sisters, Mark lived in Austin, TX, Ocala, FL, San Diego, CA, Spokane, WA, and his native Juliaetta, ID at one time or another. His musical roots came originally from his step fathers obsession with the working class country sounds and lyrics of Merle Haggard, David Alan Coe, George Strait, George Jones, and "the king" Hank Williams. Mark would later branch out on his own trek, soaking up the blues sounds of Muddy Waters, Lightin’ Hopkins, Albert King, B.B. King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Mark also began dabbling in harmonica, following in the footsteps of Sonny Boy Williamson and the great folk artist Woody Guthrie. After a three year stint in the Navy, Mark moved back to Idaho to attend college, but the allure to try something with music was too strong, and he eventually packed up his car and moved to Nashville, TN. While finishing his college studies at Middle Tennessee State University, Mark interned on Music Row, gaining valuable insight into the business aspects of the Music Industry. Upon graduating from MTSU with a degree in Pre-Law, Mark struggled with what direction to take professionally, and decided to return to Idaho yet again and focus his full attention on developing what had become a full-on passion for the art of composing music. In 2006 Mark flew to San Francisco to help a cousin move back to Idaho. While visiting he attended the concert of a slide guitar player and songwriter from Austin, TX who goes by the name Papa Mali, who’s influence would leave a lasting impression. Mark came back from the trip inspired to begin a musical and spiritual journey to re-invent the boundaries of songwriting, by combining his background in blues, country, and folk with a mix of personal experience and a natural energy only found in the great Northwest of America. His first full length CD, titled "Nobody Listens" was completed in 2008, tackling subjects of the heart, mind, and spirit. Riding an undercurrent of new and exciting opportunities in western art, Mark Maland is set to make a unique splash, and some unique music, on his journey home.

Thats pretty funny. I think most bands set up their accounts to automatically accept any friend request. Have you seen the South Park episode about Bono?
Stopped by, thought I'd say hello. I've been playing guitar a bit, but haven't picked up the Dobro much. Might you be free for a St. Patty's Day BBQ down this way? TTYL.
I missed your show in Moscow cause I was working. Hopefully I can make the next one. I still haven't seen you play but would really l ike too. I just put a new project I finished with JT Grauke up on my page. Take a listen to it, it turned out really great I think. It's all live in my living room.
