Bio
New Album! PAPER MAN SONGS (Music featured in, Inspired by, and Discarded from the motion picture) available on itunes an everywhere else now ..... Paper Man, an oblique, charming, and very funny movie (Starring Jeff Daniels, Ryan Reynolds, Lisa Kudrow, Emma Stone, and Kieran Culkin, and with original music by Mark McAdam) comes out in NY and LA April 23. Go see it..... This is not a proper bio. A proper bio is written in the third person, preferably authored by someone other than the subject. I'm sure there are proper bios for me somewhere online, although I wouldn't trust anything you see at markmcada.com. There were safety codes violated, evidently, wiring issues, and a dodgy general contractor who skipped town. .... The things you see on this page, written as if Im not right here in the room, written in the third person like that... those things are written by the Record Company People. They are professionals. You can tell its them, not me, by the way the call me McAdam. Whereas I call myself me or I. Like, Jose Gonzales over there, for instance. Never heard of him. I'm sure he's nice and it sounds like he's talented. But I wouldn't know him if he came up and bit me on the shoulder..... I would like to clear a few things up:.... Yes, I am from the seacoast region of New Hampshire. Its really a beautiful place. You ought to visit sometime. I go back as often as I can. However, if you go there, please dont bother my parents or show up at their house unannounced. They dont have any spare locks of my hair or baby photos they will give you, nor will they let you use the bathroom. Theyre nice, giving people, but really..... Yes, I live in New York now and have a little studio in my apartment. Yes, that really is my apartment in that video..... No, you may not have the address..... No, for the thousandth time, I am not dating a certain British model whose name I wont mention here for fear of breathing new life into that rumor. Nor am I dating Thora Birch. Nor was I ever seen canoodling with Regine from Arcade Fire! Who Ive never even met, and who, I believe, is MARRIED TO THE TALL GUY!.... Yes, I used to live in Los Angeles and I was in the band Sumack..... Here are some things people wrote about my last record.... "Beautiful, fabulous, incredible. Sweet, lightly raspy, melodic, excellent vocals, wonderfully-fit lyrics, poppy, weepy, gorgeous guitar melodies, and clever structures reign in each and every song." - Action Attack Helicopter.... "A low-key, hidden gem of a record. The kind of album Wilco might make if they never read their own press clippings." - All Music Guide.... "McAdam passes through one musical room to another, but always with the kind of relaxed skill that most musicians secretly aspire to." - Amplifier.... "...imaginative, crisp, smart and inventive. We have gone completely apeshit over this album." - Babysue.com.... "Boy Wonder is perceptive and lonely, alternately sparse and lavish, evocative and amusing, ... One of the most intelligent, enjoyable albums Ive heard in a long time." -Splendid.... *A friend just told me that TWO films that I composed music for were on the myspace front page for film. "God Grew Tired of Us" and "Dante's Inferno." You ought to check them out, I'd say..... *Our little video over there is listed in SPIN magazine's "Don't Miss Videos" section of the December 2006 issue. Check it out, if you're so inclined..... *"Too Hard" was featured on a couple episodes of "Grey's Anatomy." You may have also heard bits of my music on Californication (an embarrassing title), Men In Trees, and several other network shows I have yet to witness..... -
