MARK MEDLOCK ( winner of the 4 th pop-idol-show in germany) 2007 ************************* Germany has been looking for a few pop idols before. But never before there have been such a competent casting-show winner like mark medlock!!!!!!! ************************************************************ From the beginning there was someone special. When the first decisions got made about the casting of the show, logically there was only one possible closure left,mark medlock would win. He had soul in his voice, he was dancing laid-back stylish, he was a funny, lovely guy, who sang himself into the hearts of the audience. He also captured the heart of germanys big Patron of casting-shows and most popular and most famous producer, dieter bohlen. Mark Medlock won the 4th german idol-show with over 78 % of the votes from the audience and viewers. This never had happened before in such a high dimension.u In the same year, 2007, mark published 2 albums, that both hit the number 1 position in the german album charts. ****************************************************** Mark was born July 9th, 1978 in Frankfurt/Main as a son of a german mother and an american father,who early introduced him to gospel-music and the legends of soul music, such as james, brown and otis redding.He had to quit school, because his mother became ill with cancer and mark took care of her until she died. 2 Years later marks father died from a heart attack. Mark had told, the reason why he went to german idol to the casting was due to his financial situation. He uesd to work as a carer for old people and had lots of small jobs before. his house had burned down and when he went to the casting, he took his last money with him and just hopped on the train to hope for the best. ************************************************ He was very scared to get critisized by his idol dieter bohlen in the jury, but the famous producer was so thrilled of medlocks self confidential appearance from the very beginning. The pleasant anticipation turned into assurance, when bohlen heard the song, with whom the offenbacher “bobbelsche”:) (marks nickname:) ) introduced himself : “Sitting on the dock of the bay” by Otis Redding. The Winner Takes It All This was by far the moust soulfull performance in a casting show on german tv, a professional as Dieter Bohlen wouldnt let that slip away.He took the singer and worked with him. One for all. As the TV-shows passed by, the singer of the hearts sang his soul-repertoire and aprooved himself more and more. In the finale he left no chance to the 16 year old martin stosch and won with 78,02% of the votes. No one was surprised anymore. With his first single “Now or never” he hit the number 1 in the german charts, also with his first album “Mr. Lonely”,produced by Dieter Bohlen. His second single “you can get it” became the summerhit 2007 and the following album “dreamcatcher” also hit the number 1 for weeks. He went on tour and had sold out concerts and a wonderful time with his fans. In 2008 he released the album “Clouddancer” and the single “unbelievable”.both hit number 1 in the german charts for several weeks. The released single “summer-love” was the summhit 2008 in germany and went straight to number 1 for a few weeks. Also austria and switzerland are known to be huge fans of mark:) in winter 2008 mark went on the “clouddancer- tour” in germany, with lots of fans and a wonderful time for everybody!!! he prooved again, what a great singer and person he is. **************************************************** This year he released “mamacita”, a dance-summer-song he recorded and produced with his producer and best friend dieter bohlen. The video has been shot in miami, florida. “mamacita” went to number 2 in germany the first week it has gotten released. The new album “club tropicana” hit the charts new to number 3. its a mixed album with uptempo songs, brasil and latin-dance-style, plus blues and soulful ballads.
