Bio
.. .. .... .. .. MARK MOLDRE'S NEW ALBUM "THE WAITING ROOM" IS OUT NOW THROUGH YELLOW MOON RECORDS AND MGM. GRAB A COPY AT THE WATERFRONT RECORDS OR THE ITUNES LINKS BELOW. .. .. Central Coast based singer/songwriter Mark Moldre spent much of last year holed up in the studio with some of his closest childhood friends, including best mate Jamie Hutchings (Bluebottle Kiss) and his siblings Sophie (piano) and Scott (drums) recording an album which lyrically entwines the threads of their past and the trials that come with the passing of time. Moldre grew up in the landscape of Sydney’s Eastern beach suburbs, riding in the back of his dad’s old Valiant and miming to Beatle and Dylan albums in wallpapered 70’s lounge rooms and snapping photos with his instamatic camera. Mark’s memories, dreams and regrets have become woven into the tapestry and Polaroids of his debut solo album ‘The Waiting Room’. .. .. A taster EP released last year included an obscure choice of B side – a dark, rustic, almost Tom Waitsian cover of another childhood memory - Hushabye Mountain, from the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The EP attracted radio airplay across the indie scene including FBi, JJJ, 2serFM, ABC, 3PBSFM and 4ZzZ. .. .. Moldre’s latest single, ‘In This Life’ is undoubtedly the most pop sounding track on this outstanding album – a quirky, catchy and haunting tune that encapsulates the adult Moldre’s day to day struggle with life’s hopes and dreams. .. ‘the bills, the car, the work, the home, the life, the dreams, the love, the kids, the health, the family.. the time keeps passing by’ .. Moldre, who has previously released several albums internationally with his band Hitchcock’s Regret, chose to work with ARIA nominated producer Tim Powles and producer Michael Carpenter on this his first solo album. Midnight Oil’s Jim Moginie was on hand to lend some production advice, and fellow Oil Rob Hirst has this to say about the record: .. .. "A beautifully produced album of melancholic melodies; sad, grand, scary. The Waiting Room is a collection of songs hand-crafted by a musician who's lived a lot, seen much, and has written it all down - for his own benefit, and ours. One to keep. 4 stars" .. .. On the live scene, Moldre has been steadily building a following by playing shows alongside fine artists like The Church, Mark Seymour, Steve Kilbey, The Gin Club, and Tex Perkins. His shows have a travelling troubadour feel with unusual percussion, played by his trusty wingman Adam Lang, such as a drum kit built into an old suitcase with a motorcycle disc brake as a cymbal and an Arnotts biscuit tin as a snare plus xylophone, banjo, ukulele, lap slide guitar and electronica. Mark will be launching The Waiting Room across the East Coast of Australia with a full band and special guests, Mike McCarthy and Brisbane’s Talltails. .. .. PPS If you're interested in purchasing any of Mark's Hitchcock's Regret and Supahip back catalogue (on Laughing Outlaw, Spacejunk and Big Radio Records) feel free to send us a message and we'll point you in the right direction. Mark's new album and first EP is available at rekkid stores, from the Waterfront link below and on iTunes. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .................... .. CONTACT: yellowmoonrecords@gmail.com .. ..
