Sounds Like
Mark has been compared to John Mellencamp, a young Neil Diamond, with a bit of Johnny Cash...Does it get better than that?
Drive out to your local dance hall or hole in the wall bar on any given Saturday night in Texas and it’s just the sort of place you might find Mark Monaco and his spirited roadhouse band. They’ll be rocking out like they’re playing The Garden, throwin’ back a few beers, and sweating like they just ran a marathon. But don’t be alarmed, it’s just another day at the office for this group whose live sets typically span three hours straight.
Ripping through three album’s worth of hard-hitting country-tinged rock originals like Drinkin’ for Two, Renegade, Time for This Cowboy to Run, and the American Highway, Monaco and band reach out to their audiences as if they’re leading a small-town tent revival and create an uproarious fervor in nearly every venue in which they perform.
Mark Monaco has been honing his craft for most of his life. He attended Nashville’s renowned Music Business School at Belmont University and interned at MCA records on Music Row at age 19. He later earned a Business Marketing degree from Texas Tech University in 2001 and released his first album, the critically acclaimed American Highway, shortly thereafter.
Monaco, who does all the writing and producing on his albums, has continued to tour throughout Texas and the South, building a loyal following and invaluable radio support on both American Highway and its follow-up Alternate Frequency landing him on the Texas Music and Music Review charts. Now on the verge of his third studio album release, Monaco is poised to step out of his native Texas and onto the national scene. “I feel like everything is finally clicking,” says Monaco. “My writing is better, the band I have behind me is the best, and people that ignored us in the past are starting to take notice. And I’m ready for the next stage.”
