6. 'Writing's On the Wall' - (m. Nuzzi 1994) Just one of my personal favorites. Appeared on the 'Soul Engines' release 'Endless Carnival' 1994.
7. "Wake Up Memphis - (m. Nuzzi, 2009) This song was written for practice. It is based on the Broadway Musical 'Memphis' which willl be
opening at the Shubert theater in the Fall. I was attempting to create a song that could be used as an opening or a closing number.
8. 'Man Of The Hour - (m. Nuzzi, 2009) This is also a practice piece based on the 'Memphis' musical. I was attempting to create a song from the female leads point of view. It is her reflection on her husband, who by the end of the play is a beaten and broken man.
I have been writing songs and singing in bands for over 20 years. Most notably I fronted the New Jersey band Soul Engines in the early 90's. We released 3 CD's, Ghosts On A Landscape(1991) , Learning To Live(1993) , and Endless Carnival(1994). While Soul Engines never garnered any national recognition, we did develop a strong local following. Soul Engines split up in 1995 and 2 years later I released a solo CD Steel Spiked Fence(1997). The song “I Won’t Bail On You” co-written with another Jersey guy, Mike Dalton, got airplay on the CBS soap opera ‘The Guiding Light’. Then in 2001 ‘Soul Engines’ reunited and released Closer Still with new member, singer songwriter Dave Kuchler. Dave and I penned the song “You Hardly Even Know This Guy” which appeared in the shorted-lived TV series ‘Good Girls Don’t’. Since that time, along with some of my former 'Soul Engine' band mates, we formed the New Jersey cover band 'MamaLuke'.
It is the creative process, particularly, collaborative projects that inspire me. I am always on the look out for like-minded songwriters. So if you've got a song idea you'd like to share...send it over. Let's Write!
