Mark writes alot of tunes, but performs mostly with the String Mountain Band whose set list varies from original tunes, to unique covers of more familiar songs, and a little bluegrass gospel. Founded in 2003, the String Mountain Band are: Vernon Cross - Rhythm Guitar, Mandolin, Fiddle, Vocals. Audie Finnell - Lead Guitar, Five String Banjo, Vocals. Mark Pistrang - Six String Banjo, Guitar, Strum Stick, Vocals. Rondell Raburn - Upright Bass. Rick Whitten - Harmonica, Guitar, Vocals.
The String Mountain Band have two self-produced CD's (Saturday Night and Sunday Morning) that are available at the band website: www.crybabyrose.com
Influences
Influences?? I'm influenced by everything I see and hear. Who isn't? While the String Mountain Band is the band I perform in, Crybaby Rose is the band I create in. Crybaby Rose is a somewhat experimental band in the fact that it doesn't really exist! All the songs I write start out solo, then they join Crybaby Rose, where they are arranged as I multi-track myself playing different instruments and singing different parts. The only down side is a lack of anyone to give that "look" to when something sounds off.... I try to be a good influence on myself....
Sounds Like
Two words. First word, one syllable. Rhymes with "BARK".... Second word, two syllables...
Mark Pistrang lives with his wife and two children in a small town in eastern Tennessee because that's where his job currently pays him to be. I'm a botanist/ecologist by profession and a singer/songwriter by confession. The music just comes a knocking and I always try and answer the door.
I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
The String Mountain Band primarily plays locally to the the greater Cleveland, TN metropolis but is always looking to expand their range within the confines of those lousy (but oh so necessary) work schedules. Radio play has certainly expanded the range within which you can hear them, with spins on such diverse stations as WUTC 88.1 FM in Chattanooga TN, Twin Cities Radio on the net in Minneapolis MN, KKRF 107.9 FM in Stuart Iowa, KVMR 89.5 FM in Nevada City CA, Grateful Dread Public Radio in Baltimore MD, and reaching out to the far corners of the globe via the internet broadcast of WorldWideBlueGrass.com from Cincinnatti OH. Contact the band at info@crybabyrose.com for bookings or further information!

Hi Mark! Thanks for the request! I like your ballad singing, and the folky kind of songs you make. We had a great time at the White Oak Mt festival. Take care! /Christian of Tenba Altso
Brother Mark, been on vacation for a couple of weeks to hot California, 110 F, in my home town. Have not played with Hector and Rory in a month, Hector is on vacation now. Gigs have been scarce although we turned down 3 due to our vacations. Next gig is a wedding in August.

Hello M (SMB), My nurseryman tells me that despite Eucalyptus microtheca being hard to acquire on account of it being so difficult to propagate and such an ugly tree, he will find one for me somehow, and it is not as hard to propagate as the emu apple, which needs to be digested by an emu first.
