My name is Peter Markush, but my alter ego is Mark Rock. I've been writing songs and playing in bands for longer than I care to count, but when my band The Marzaks was recording our first CD
in 2002, I decided to create an alter ego and perform as Mark Rock. Due to geographical constraints, The Marzaks haven't been performing much lately, but I've continued performing under the Mark Rock name. It's easier to prounce than my real name, anyway.
I wrote the song "Head Over Girl" in July of 2005. Stephen Barling plays drums and sings backup on this recording, made on February 28, 2008. We just recorded live in stereo to Stephen's CD recorder at his house.
I wrote the song "It's Never Enough" in around 2003. This recording was made at the Lava Lounge in Waynesboro (myspace.com/irarobinson) on January 11, 2008 with a bunch of people, most of whom had never heard the song before. Fun party.
I wrote "Toaster" in 1991 and recorded it here with the Marzaks in 2002. This recording is from our debut CD Superhuman.
Eric Long and I wrote (music: him; lyrics: me) and recorded "The Way That You Are" in around 1988 as part of a project we had called The Upper Crust. Digitized from a cassette I have called The 1988 Peter Markush Christmas Tape.
I started writing "Victoria" in 1988 and finished in 1992. I recorded this version in 1994 as part of a music class I was taking.
I wrote "She Likes to Bite" about a young lady I dated in 1992. This version was recorded by my old band The Bumping Uglies in 1993. Yes, that's me singing. I also played bass.
Hello Virginia!...my trio is playing in Harrisonburg this Wednesday night (11/19) @ a great restaurant/bar/music club called Clementine (153 S. Main Street - www. clementinecafe. com). Show starts at 9. It would be great if you could make it.
Thanks for the add. Of course I remember you, Peter! I did wonder from time to time what ever happened to you these past 20-some odd years. I'm glad to see you're still doing what you love. :)
The "She Likes To Bite" song is off the hook. If AC/DC ever needs a lead singer, you'd have no problem filling those shoes. Hope you play Richmond sometime. I'd love to see one of your shows!
Stoppin' by to say thanks for the friend request. Drop me a comment when you have the time. I appreciate it. I hope you enjoy my music as much as I enjoy yours. Yer pal, Kevin Zipperer www. kevinzipperer. com Guitar Player Topics
Hello lovely Charlottesville! We've got a great show this Wednesday (9/17) at the Gravity Lounge. Miss Tess & The Bon Ton Parade and Eilen Jewell. Would be great if you could make it.
