Mark Russell is a Guitarist, Bass player and songwriter. Mark's first interest in music came at the tender age of 8, when he requested that his upcoming Christmas present be an Electric Guitar. After finally getting to grips with the basic needs of being a guitarist, via the experience and valuable teaching from his father who is an experienced lead player, and also the addition of his first Bass guitar to his ever growing collection, Mark was able to take what was now his passion onto pastures new. In 2004 whilst pursuing his GCSE grade in Music, Mark joined his first official band as bassist for ' Johnny Volume '. After a number of gigs and performances, comprising off original material, in Belfast and beyond, the band subsequently broke up. This a few months later led to the formation of a new rock trio named NV-US, where Mark was now the Guitar player and Joint lead vocalist. In 2006, the band got their first experience of a studio to record their EP ' In The Key Of Rock '. With a set of original material the band subsequently took it to the stage. Though by the end of 2006 the band dissolved. However whilst now pursuing his A-Level grade in Music, Mark joined an upcoming rock band named ' Autorun '. This move eventually offered him greater eposure as a Guitarist with an active stage presence. Subsequent gigs in top Belfast venues as well as support slots to already popular music names such as Eric Bell, Henry McCullough and Pete Bennett, as well as live appearances on the Radio ( as well as Marks guest appearance on stage with renowned Guitarist, Rab McCullough ) this seemed to establish the band primarily in the Belfast Music Scene. However throughout duration of his stint with the band, it was often felt that his songwriting capabilities and decision making were less favoured over that of the bands singer due to the latters controlling attitude and dilusional negative approach to music and band matters. This had led to Mark leaving the band on 2 occasions, due to lack of creative input, only to be coaxed back in by the singer. However in 2008 after enduring the same negative attitude time and time again, on and off for 2 years, as well as commitment issues, Mark finally parted ways the Autorun. At the end of 2008 into the present year, Mark started to record his own material, which is a collection of songs written over the last few years, some of which were rejected and used in previous bands, and some of which now include his keyboard playing. As well as brief stints in other Belfast bands as bassist and guitarist Mark now enjoys the freedom and lack of constraint in his approach to music, which can be seen in his current recordings. After recording and comprising a collection of almost 100 songs Mark is hoping one day this will lead him on to greater recognition and acknowledgment in the future coming years :D
