"Playing in nearly every possible type of band from jazz, to rock, R&B, and show music for the past 30 years has given Boston area bass player Mark Snyder a pretty broad spectrum of musical experience to choose from. He draws from all of that with his band The Mark Snyder Quartet, a groovy combo of rocking guitars, drums, sax, and flute that digs deep into old standards, modern jazz classics, and funky originals..." - The Boston Globe
"Parisian Backstreets" and "The Icteen Shuffle" were written by me, from our CD entitled "Men Grooving". "Pyrenees Nocturne" was written by Jim Repa, our sax player; also from the CD. "Le Tango" and "Monk Funk" are NOT recorded by my quartet, rather they are originals of mine from the latest Rick Frank CD "Yellow Mountain", with me on bass, Rick Frank on drums, Brad Hatfield on piano, Jim Robitaille on guitar, and Bruce Abbot on sax. (I know it says above that "Le Tango" and "Monk Funk" are by The Mark Snyder Quartet... Myspace won't let me change that setting!)
The Mark Snyder Quartet has been playing at clubs and for special events across New England for over 10 years. The band's sound has been described as "Groove-driven funk, Standards with a twist, and Original jazz."
One of the many high points of 2007 was our time spent as artists-in-residence at Thacher School, in Ojai, California, and we have just completed our second residency at Thacher in April 2009.

THE MARK SNYDER QUARTET: Men Grooving -->
I play 4-string fretless, 6-string fretted, and upright bass. I've been playing in and around Boston for 30 years, with a wide variety of different types of bands, everything from jazz, to rock, to r&b, to ethnic music, pit orchestras and show music, and just about everything else imaginable. Some of my sideman credits include work with The Gary Burton Quartet, Mike Metheny, Bob Moses, Phil Grenadier, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Marvelettes, Brian Hyland, Gary "U.S." Bonds, Tommy Rowe, and The Ink Spots.
Besides my quartet, some of the other people I'm currently playing with include: Adam Douglass, Mike Casano, Dave Fox, George Barnett, Safam, Steve Sussman, The Common Ground Band, Rock 'N Soul Inc., Binney Stone, Rick Frank, Brad Hatfield, Jim Robitaille, and Steve Heck.
Some side projects I've been doing include three CD's with Rick Frank on Decker Creek Records, with Rick, Brad Hatfield, Bruce Abbot, and Jim Robitaille, entitled "The Labyrinth", "Brookline, Summer", and "Yellow Mountain". They feature my original tunes.

Well hello! It is I, and I too am wishing you a happy birthday. Youre getting old man. Lol, I hope the day is well. Keep jazzin' it up. I'll have to catch a gig one of these days.
Sorry I couldn't make the show; I would have much rather been there, but I was stuck working the closing shift at the dictatorship regime I'm employed by.
