I hope you'll forgive a bit of shameless merchandising.
My new CD is out. A little funkier this time rather than just straight ahead; definitely not your father's organ trio! CD Baby's got it - samples, links & downloads on my Myspace page.
That's my new CD, "Deacon Blues", the straight ahead organ trio I've been wanting to do for years. It's getting great reviews and lots of radio play - and it's only Jazz; Go figure! The CD features some good friends, including two of my favorite guitarists, Mike DeMicco and the phenomenal Joe Beck. Danny Gottlieb lays down the groove with my brother Tony guesting on bass for a couple of tracks.
The CD is available on line at AMAZON.COM or at WOODSTOCK CD where they also have artist-signed copies in stock. (arguably making them worth less!)
How are you? Wanted to let you know I am doing ok and have been a bit creative lately. Would be great to hear from you so please drop me a line or two.
I also wanted to take the chance to let you know that I have uploaded a new song called A legend called Joy. My homepage has also been updated a bit, if you want to see: www.glengabriel.com.
A lot of people have asked, but I've lost track of who. So this is to let you know that my new CD, "Deacon Blues", is finally available - from Motema's website (click on the CD image) or on Amazon.com. It features 2 of my favorite guitarists - Joe Beck & Mike DeMicco, drum legend Danny Gottlieb, my brother Tony on bass, and more.
Best wishes, and thanks for letting me do this little ad.

Mark - great stuff! I'd love to work with you sometime, so please keep me in mind if you ever need an experienced engineer with great skills and credits to record and/or mix a project! Great band. I love what you guys are doing. Dan Kleinman sounds great - I know how tough that is. Personally, I've been trying to figure out Trane for years. I'll leave that to you guys!
"Mark Sweetman on drums. Formally of Toronto, Canada, somewhat of a legend in the Toronto Jazz scene. Mark has played with some of the best. With a unique style, energetic and heart felt, he merges modal and avant-guard styles."
Mark Sweetman is one of the coolest people on the planet! Rarely have I met such a gifted artist in so many areas at once. He is kind, softspoken, professional, uniquely intelligent, and a has sly sense of humor as well. His painting company is top notch!
A loving father, husband, and friend. I'll never forget the time he took me to see Elvin Jones play live in NYC-what a musical highlight of my life!!! Mark helped me rethink my own drumming in a new light and continues to be a great encourager.
