MARKUS GARDEWEG Biography - July 2009 MARKUS GARDEWEG and Kontor Records go together like Ren and Stimpy, Pinky and the Brain or even gin & tonic, and they have done so since 1995. Two inseparably intertwined careers, yet each following an individual path. Not only has MARKUS GARDEWEG served the label for many years as A&R, his name can be found on each and every issue of the successful Kontor compilation »Top Of The Clubs«, with an impressive 44 volumes to date and the 45th due for release in November. One of the three TOTC45CDs is again mixed by Gardeweg, whilst he also lent his mixing skills to the the brand new »PACHA 2009« album. Hosting his own radio show has spread the name of MARKUS GARDEWEG further still. MARKUS GARDEWEG’s musical talents go way beyond his Kontor Records activities and CD mixes. For some time now, he has been an in-demand DJ on the international scene, jetting to Munich or Moscow at the weekends to share his personal take on creative, timeless, uplifting house with the club crowd. Judging by the success his classic, pumping house sound brings, he’s pretty good at it. MARKUS GARDEWEG has also nailed his musical colours to the mast as a producer. His greatest commercial success thus far was the remake of the 80s classic “25 Years” by The Catch. In 2004 it shot to the top of the dance, radio and club charts. Remixes for the likes of Lisa Stansfield followed to general acclaim. His reworking of »Don't Hold Back« for The Potbelleez in 2008 brewed up a storm on the dancefloors. Mid-July sees the release of “Not Over You“, the latest single from the Hanseatic artist, the follow-up to last year’s “Fairplay (Let There Be Love)”. Busy as ever, MARKUS GARDEWEG has also delivered remixes for Camisra’s »Let Me Show Me« and the ATB pres. Flanders single »Behind«. Particularly dear to MARKUS GARDEWEG is his exclusive i tunes compilation series »In The Box«, with the third programme timed to coincide with the release of his new single. The name fits perfectly – the tracks showcased here are the very ones the globetrotting DJ has in his case when he hits the decks in clubs around the world: house music at its best! ......
