Mark is a native of the Hudson Valley. Growing up between Kingston, Woodstock & Saugerties, New York his first inspiration to be a musician came when Peter (Paul & Mary) Yarrow visited his Kindergarten class to play Puff the Magic Dragon. Mark played violin and viola before the upright bass, performing with the All-Eastern Symphony and earning a diploma from the Juilliard Pre-College Division during high school. He now holds a Bachelor's degree in Jazz performance from Purchase College, State University of New York.
Mark has appeared at several local jazz festivals in the mid-Hudson Valley including the Belleayre summer Jazz series and the Kingston Jazz Festival.
He has had the honor of opening for Chick Corea, Eddie Palmieri, Michel Camillo, Wayne Shorter (w/ Herbie Hancock, Brian Blade & Dave Holland), Peter Cincotti, Jane Monheit, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and others in this context. Mark currently lives in NYC & regularly appears with Danica Dora, Hee Young Kang, Amayo's Fu Arkist Ra, Elijah Tucker & Generous Music, Cody, Kat Spina, Brendan Berry and others.
I stopped driving taxis a while ago ... felt I could go on my own just working with students ... that didn't work so great, so now I'm working at Barnes & Noble for the Holidays & going to be advertising myself as a teacher soon ... I just built a website for myself & have been doing a lot of playing over the last few months.
Glad you're doing well.
Let me know if you're doing any shows/concerts or anything.

Hey there! Rich and I are going up today to finish the mixes. I'll put the tracks into mp3 format, but is there a good address where I can send the CD? Thanks! ;)
