About me: everyone who knows me calls me by my full name, pronounced as one word. i make art for videogames to pay the bills; it's sort of a ridiculous career, but it's the only job i'm overqualified for. i am surly, abrasive, and can't form a sentence without swearing, which is most of what my friends like about me. pretty much good at anything i set my mind to, except driving, playing the drums, or being in love. i've somehow forgotten how to throw a ball. i miss east coast pizza. i needed to leave boston when i did a few years ago, but not a day goes by that i don't consider moving home. i'm thirty years old and i'm still straightedge; take that however you like. i have no problem with other people drinking/smoking/etc; i just don't, that's all. there's two kinds of people in this life: ninja people and pirate people. i am of the ninja persuasion. while i feel like i've grown up into a fully functioning adult, at some point i realized that the only things that make me truly happy are the same things i was excited about in high school: hardcore shows, skateboarding, guitars, and comic books. i have a fluffy cat named moustache, and she hates you. i'm past the point where i am trying to impress anyone but myself.
Who I'd like to meet: i get along best with artists and musicians, honestly, but it's not an exclusive thing. i'll give just about anyone a chance. i am, however, discerning in picking my friends, and i feel okay about this. why settle for less? there's plenty of people in the world, you're allowed to pick and choose those that add the most to your life; the hell with the rest of them. this said, i would like to find the following:
-snobs. i need people to feed my addictions, and to argue with on the following topics: music, art, film, comic books, videogames, guitars, and local cuisine.
-two or three musicians who can hold their own in odd time signatures.
-brunchmates.
-seattle people aware that music culture kept going after 1992. no, seriously.
-east coast people trapped on the west coast. like a support group, if you will.
-a beautiful woman with her shit together. old enough to have her own agenda, young enough to appreciate mixtapes as tokens of affection.
-dogs. i've been lacking dog-friends since i left boston. i love my cat, but i miss dogs.
persona non grata: no drama babies, no terminal fuck-ups, no self-pity wallowers, no hippies, no junkies, no religious zealots, no utilikilts. slightly crazy is okay, seriously crazy is not. the past year involved weeding out some unhealthy friends, no sense in taking on new worthless people when i've just cleaned house.
hehe IT NEEDS TO TELL ME WHEN ITS PLAYING so i may watchify....i'm not sync'd up to that large white plastic block of luv....I should ya know get on that....mayhaps i'll just steal that one...
hmmmm...so i am spending a lazy friday morning skipping work and hanging out on myspace (LOSER) and found you and was overcome by a wave of late 90's nostalgia, which always happens when i find you. i am sitting in my boyfriend's gross dorchester apartment smelling garbage, which is almost as awesome as sitting in a closet turned bedroom with a giant curtain/door and a leaky skylight with a hornets nest on it on wigglesworth street. don't you miss boston? don't you?
BOTH DELAYED AND LAST, BUT NOT LEAST! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MY DEAR MARK WOOD! Hope it was a special & happy one, and you're not grumping around about your age. It commands respect and deference! Many hugs.
Happy Birthday from the East Coast! Wish I had some way of teleporting you a Carvel ice cream cake, which is without question the best ice cream/bday cake ever. The hard part is picking between traditional, Fudgie the Whale, and Cookie Puss. I heard 30 is the new awesome by the way.
I hope you're prepared to deal with the parents of America blaming your band for their kid's interest in torturing small animals and being fat...and ugly...and annoying....and wearing black all the time.
