Marmaduke Dando is a beguiling young singer with a formidable English baritone that can be traced to a genuine pirate ancestry.
His songs are a collection of morose ballads and frisky drunken jigs which often extract references to early Scott Walker, Brel and Weill.
On stage Marmaduke croons like Bowie in the shower, leading a golden mane on guitar, a shadow casting double bass player, a stony faced drummer, a lachrymose milk maid with a fiddle, a crab hand accordionist and klezmer inspired clarinetist.
With a bevy of self-penned demos of an endearing homely quality, Marmaduke is soon to commit these ditties to tape in a more established recording house.
Signed and supported by no body as yet, he aims to disseminate these recordings through various mediums and very soon visit some of the more discerning towns of the British Isles, to perform, sell, and spy.
Hello folks, we've got a humdinger of a line-up for you tonight at The Enterprise, opposite Chalk Farm tube, in the shape of KATE MILLER HEIDKE + ELLIE LAWSON + CRAIG BRAUNS.
This really should be a cracking night. Kate has been doing some huge shows in Australia and we're lucky to have scooped her for this intimate venue before she goes on to play the other much larger gigs that she's doing while she's here. Ellie has been making huge waves (and appropriately has a deal with Quicksilver) in the U.S.A. and promises to be making a very big impact here in the coming months. Craig is a fabulous singer songwriter with a great voice and is not to be missed. It all kicks off at 8ish and it's £6 to get in. Do try to come down if you can.
On Sunday afternoon at The World's End, opposite Camden Tube we continue our super run of FREE shows with performances from SPRING PARK MOTEL + LESTER CLAYTON + DROOME . So expect a weird kind of hoedown! Starts 5ish done and dusted by about 8pm.
hey, really hope you can make it along to our Luminaire show tomorow night in Kilburn, we really want to make it a big special night on our Uk tour, would be great if you could pop down Groanbox :)
Oooooooooo what a lovely day! Hmmmmmm the sort of day, towards the end of which, you might like to listen to some finely crafted songs, whilst sipping a drink in intimate candlelit surroundings. Sound good? Then get yourself down to The Camden Head (formerly The Liberties), 100 Camden High St. for just such an evening tonight featuring MARMADUKE DANDO + THE LION AND CHEETAH PARK + ANDREW CLARKE. This is the first of a series of gigs that we will be hosting always topped and tailed by the exceedingly talented Marmaduke and Andrew and always featuring a very special guest sandwiched in between. This time it is the turn of T.L.A.C.P. whose lead singer is none other than Jose Blaze from The Crimea. It should be a wonderful night, starts at 7:30pm and costs only £6. Hope to see you out there! Love. P&D X
