It is time to change your conception of Seattle based music. For over a decade, a new style of music has been growing and evolving in the clubs of this famous West Coast city. Marmalade embodies this new music we call Groove.
Every Thursday night for the past ~6~ years, Marmalade has brought live improvised danceable grooves to a club called Tost. Influenced by soul, funk, hip-hop, and jazz, the Marmalade vibe is the defining factor that sets this group apart in Seattle's flourishing Groove scene. Positive, energetic, and free, the group encourages one to be oneself; that the only way to be cool is to be you.
More than a band, this collective of musicians is made up of
members of Phat Sidy Smokehouse, nuSoltribe, StingShark, Super Sonic Soul Pimps, Jambalaya, TRWST, Diano Garcia, Diamond Hand, 17th Chapter, Blu Surkit, Karl Densen's Tiny Universe, Dub Championz, Clinton Fearon and the Boogie Brown Band, and Reverse. Marmalade nightly invents new music to move your body and soul. The musicians are: Ernest Pumphrey, Jr (Voice/Flavor), Davee C (Drum kit), Tyrone Bob Lovelace (Bass, MC), Chad Redlight (Keyboards/Voice/Drums), Buddhaful Mike (Keyboards), Brian StingShark Ray (Guitar/Voice), Kimo Muraki (Saxophone/Voice/Guitar), Chris CD Littlefield (Trumpet), and BigTalk Jon Ryser (Alto and Baritone Saxophones). In addition to the live music, DJ Leopold Bloom provides beats, cuts and scratches throughout the night for ones sonic groovification.
The night at Tost has become so popular that the group has been getting bookings all over the region. No matter where they perform, they bring their unique energy that transforms any venue into a platform for Marmalade to spread out and do their thing.
In 2005, Maramalade took it to the road. As a part of the Natural High Tour presented by the Pacha Mama Project, they spent the summer in France creating their instantly inspired Groove music for the discerning appetites of the European musical palate.
With a complete night of auditory and visual satisfaction, Marmalade reminds you of how much fun life can be.
