Marmalade at TostIt is time to change your conception of Seattle based music. For over a decade, a new style of music has been growing and evolving in the clubs of this famous West Coast city. Marmalade embodies this new music we call Groove.

Every Thursday night for the past ~6~ years, Marmalade has brought live improvised danceable grooves to a club called Tost. Influenced by soul, funk, hip-hop, and jazz, the Marmalade vibe is the defining factor that sets this group apart in Seattle's flourishing Groove scene. Positive, energetic, and free, the group encourages one to be oneself; that the only way to be cool is to be you.
More than a band, this collective of musicians is made up of members of Phat Sidy Smokehouse, nuSoltribe, StingShark, Super Sonic Soul Pimps, Jambalaya, TRWST, Diano Garcia, Diamond Hand, 17th Chapter, Blu Surkit, Karl Densen's Tiny Universe, Dub Championz, Clinton Fearon and the Boogie Brown Band, and Reverse. Marmalade nightly invents new music to move your body and soul. The musicians are: Ernest Pumphrey, Jr (Voice/Flavor), Davee C (Drum kit), Tyrone Bob Lovelace (Bass, MC), Chad Redlight (Keyboards/Voice/Drums), Buddhaful Mike (Keyboards), Brian StingShark Ray (Guitar/Voice), Kimo Muraki (Saxophone/Voice/Guitar), Chris CD Littlefield (Trumpet), and BigTalk Jon Ryser (Alto and Baritone Saxophones). In addition to the live music, DJ Leopold Bloom provides beats, cuts and scratches throughout the night for ones sonic groovification.

The night at Tost has become so popular that the group has been getting bookings all over the region. No matter where they perform, they bring their unique energy that transforms any venue into a platform for Marmalade to spread out and do their thing.

In 2005, Maramalade took it to the road. As a part of the Natural High Tour presented by the Pacha Mama Project, they spent the summer in France creating their instantly inspired Groove music for the discerning appetites of the European musical palate.

With a complete night of auditory and visual satisfaction, Marmalade reminds you of how much fun life can be.

Pocket Change brings you another large ensemble show on Thursday, May 22nd at Tula’s in the heart of Belltown! This show will feature some good friends and jazz monsters to recapture the thick sound and incredible energy from our sold out CD Release Show at The Triple Door last December. We’ll be performing our full set from that night, as well as a new set of material arranged for our extended line-up.
Special guests include Ivan Arteaga on bari sax, Aaron Jenkins on tenor sax, Sarah Nelson on trumpet, and Seattle veteran Jay Thomas on alto sax!

Cover is only $8 and the 8pm show is ALL AGES for the first two sets.
As with our last two shows at The Triple Door, we expect this show to sell out, so make your reservations today! Call Tula’s at (206) 443-4221, or visit them at 2214 2nd Ave in Seattle.

Mar 16 2008 12:08 PM

This Friday, March 21st at LoFi, J&J Music Presents a night of groove with yours truly and groove monsters the Water Babies!

This show will be a different from anything we’ve done in the past. Expect couches, rugs, pillows, and a slick loft feel when you enter, giving you the option of laying back and enjoying the sounds, or getting up and grooving along with us. There’s no stage so you can get as close as you want to the action! This is our first full band show since our sold out CD Release at The Triple Door, so we expect a full house and the release of lots of pent-up energy...

Cover is $7 and it’s 21+. The Water Babies will be getting started at 10pm, with P-Change up at midnight. See you there!
