Marq DeSouza is a Vancouver based musician who's so far released 5 critically-acclaimed albums of self-penned material. For the most part, records composed of strong, song-based rock n' roll in the classic way, with frequent detours into the shady musical sidestreets. Elements of 70's glam, Nashville twang, hard city blues, country-folk, Brill building balladry, power pop, Southern soul & even the occasional hip-hop & metal are all filtered through a uniquely powerful lyrical view.
At the heart of these sounds lies the unvarnished voice, bloodied but unbowed. Possibly an acquired taste, but this world certainly doesn't need anymore cookie-cutters or even virtuosos behind the mic. Truth, however, is never out of demand. This music will remind you of a time when you could put faith in that voice coming out of the speakers. Where listening to a record could actually give you the secret codes to live your life by. Plus, it's FUN!!

I listened to my profile music tonight for the first time in sooooo.... long, and all I can do is thank you so much...for letting me, be a part of you, for as small of a part of your life as it was, It was an amazing part of mine. Actually--my little Taurus--YOU are the 'cute' one with that BIG voice in song and hushed, calm voice in SPEECH. Still haven't decided who will play you in the BIO PIC of your life, but I will. Unfortunately the actor will have large shoes to fill and you play you the best [NO double entendre implied!].
YOU are the reason why I joined this sordid site silly. If I'm gonna mack on your music isn't this the site to mainline it so to speak? Your voice is fucking FANTASTIC btw. And the pure dichotomy of your SINGING voice versus your SPEAKING voice leaves me dismembers me, leaves me speechless, reduces me to rubble...
