I was born and raised on the south side of chicago in a single parent home. I began playing the drums in the 4th grade, and then switched to trumpet in the 5th grade after hearing my older cousin practice for hours above my room. Mrs. Diane Ellis then began teaching me the fundamentals of the trumpet at Dixon Elementary school. At my 8th grade graduation she placed a Dizzy Gillespie CD in his hand and since then I have been trying my best to keep the tradition of jazz alive in his playing. I am now a junior Music Education Major at Norther Illinois University. After Graduation i plan to pursue my masters degree in jazz studies. I Play around the chicago often, but my main focus at this point in my life is school.(But will never turn down a playing opportunity offered) I love music and can honestly say that music has shaped and has given more character to my life. I love to play and love to teach. I am a strong believer that music can change the lives of children all over the world just as it has changed mine.
