As part of the recent UK movement Marqus-Romelle is set to be musics next superstar. His raw, real and unique style blesses us with a world-class multi-talented singer, songwriter, dancer and choreographer straight from Chapeltown, Leeds.
Marqus has taken his career to the next level by going to Los Angeles, California to record, shoot videos and write with the industries best. He has come a long way from his humble beginnings as a member of the R&B/Pop group ‘Young Nation’, which lead to him being snapped up by Stedman of legendary group ‘5 star’ to work his choreography magic and tour extensively through Europe and the Caribbean. Marqus also became one of the UK's top unsigned acts placing top 3 out of 10,000 entries in Live and Unsigned UK 2008. Off the back of this and his great progressions, he was then nominated for a vodafone music award up for best unsigned act and was then placed on the Live and Unsigned UK Tour 2009 to rave reviews.
Between jetting off to the US to meet Chris Brown, creating his album and doing showcases internationally, Marqus-Romelle likes to give back to a community that’s given him so much. He recently choreographed plays at West Yorkshire Playhouse and has been involved in co-ordinating many other youth arts, media and social programmes. Marqus's youth work doesn’t just stop in Leeds his community work extends to Europe where he is involved in the arts based youth exchanges that go on throughout the continent involving young people from across the EU.
A very “Hard Working, Grounded, Conscious, Tenacious Individual” sums up this well-rounded entertainer.
